Automation Engineer
Redford, MI

Summary:

Our client is a German based automotive OEM. They are looking to add an experienced and creative Automation Engineer to their Powertrain & eDrive Software team. This Automation Engineer will develop test infrastructure automation using Visual Basic and Excel.

The Automation Engineer needs to be an expert in Visual Basic and Excel

Automation Engineer Requirements:

  • Solid skills and experiences C++ and C# with Visual Studio, as well as with the Linux environment
  • Experience with scripting languages such as widows shell, Linux shell scripting and python, etc.
  • Working knowledge of software test methodologies, processes, tools, and automated testing
  • Software development experience using Test-Driven Development
  • Experience working in agile software development teams, e.g. SCRUM
  • Ability to investigate and debug problems
  • Experience developing software on embedded systems
  • Experience with and knowledge in data analytics and machine learning models
  • Experience with code coverage tools and decision coverage tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5+ Years' Experience
  • .NET framework expertise
  • Visual studio – VB
  • Able to access excel sheets, read cells and make logic decisions based on that
  • Open excel/Text files and edit via a VB application
  • Send emails from outlook using VB
  • Error recovery logic
  • Access excel sheets via another VB application and run macros within the accessed excel sheets
  • Expertise in Excel macros
  • Knowledge of Jenkins or other continuous integration tool
  • Experience with Python
  • Knowledge on how to access and run web pages via VB or other software programming language

Automation Engineer Description:

  • Purpose: Develop test infrastructure automation
  • Group tests and handles physical release of software (hybrid and electric vehicles) to the customer
  • The main function of a software engineer is to apply the principles of computer science and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing, and evaluation of the software and systems that make computers work.
  • A typical software engineer researches, designs, develops and tests operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for medical, industrial, military, communications, aerospace, business, scientific and general computing applications
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain and improve software
  • Maintain and update testing computers
  • Design and/or Implement test frameworks, best-in-class test tools and applications.
  • Develop and execute unit tests, scripts and applications as needed
  • Continually improve your craft by researching new test/validation methodologies
  • Define the end-to-end test strategy and collaborate with the team on test-case generation
  • Supporting software that runs on testing equipment
  • Testing low level embedded systems and control algorithms
