Control System and Simulation Development Engineer
Superior Charter Township, MI

Summary:

Our client is one the largest OEM’s in the world and is looking to add a Control System and Simulation Development Engineer. As part of the team, the Control System and Simulation Development Engineer will be responsible for developing or identifying new control technologies, strategies, and methods to attain improved fuel economy and the performance in current and future production including conventional, hybrid, and electric vehicles.


The Control System and Simulation Development Engineer must have experience developing and integrating control logics and algorithms.

Control System and Simulation Development Engineer Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Good understanding on controls theories and mechanical/electrical system dynamics
  • Strong interpersonal and technical problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge in internal combustion engines, transmission, and hybrid vehicle systems
  • Experience in applying control theory in powertrain and vehicle controls
  • Experience with model-based development tools such as MATLAB/Simulink

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Control System Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering from an accredited university
  • Knowledge in computer programming languages such as C/C++, Python, and Visual Basic
  • Experience with data acquisition and analysis tools such as ETAS INCA
  • Experience with control logic development software such as ETAS ASCET
  • Experience with Rapid Prototyping process and tools such as ETAS INTECRIO, ETAS EHOOKS, and dSPACEMIcroAutoBox
  • Experience with 1-D physical modeling tools such as AVL-CRUISE, GT-SUITE, and Autonomie
  • Experience with traffic simulation tools such as CarMaker, CarSim, SUMO, and Vissim

Control System and Simulation Development Engineer Description:

  • Develop or identify new control technologies, strategies, and methods to attain improved fuel economy and performance in current and future production including conventional, hybrid, and electric vehicles
  • Lead activities developing an advanced control concept utilizing ADAS and V2X technologies
  • Analyze the feasibility and the impact of the new control systems through simulation and vehicle testing using rapid prototyping
  • Build virtual processes integrating multiple simulation tools in developing new control algorithms and introduce them to the next generation production vehicles
  • Work with Korea R&D Center production program to develop production-read control algorithms and introduce them to next generation production vehicles
  • Investigate industry trend through benchmarking competitor products’ control systems and strategies and leverage the information in setting development direction and performance target
