Electrical Design Engineer

Northwest Indiana

Summary:

Our client is a growing company who is looking to add an experienced and professional Electrical Engineer to the team. As part of the team, the Electrical Engineer will be responsible for managing design projects and bills of materials for the Electrical Engineering Team.

Electrical Engineer must have 0 - 5 years of wire harness design experience

Electrical Engineer Requirements:

  • Electrical troubleshooting knowledge – experience designing electrical wire harnesses
  • Required engineering skills include both analytical and “hands-on” abilities
  • Consistent attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task and prioritize workload
  • Creative and innovative team player
  • Intermediate-level user in Microsoft Office Suite
  • CAD experience with emphasis on 2D and 3D; SolidWorks preferred
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards
  • Versatile, flexible, and a willingness to adapt to changing priorities
  • Willing to improve self / area / company (including pursing additional training, if needed)
  • Familiar with technical publications and associations
  • Familiar with applicable industry standards, codes and regulations
  • Experience in automotive harness design

Electrical Engineer Description:

  • Produce electrical engineering documentation such as schematic drawings, harness drawings, design manual content, and operation and troubleshooting guides.
  • Manage one’s work load to ensure steady progress and timely completion.
  • Function as a productive member of product development teams.
  • Work on both electrical and mechanical aspects of the vehicle.
  • Work with both DC and AC electrical systems.
  • Develop engineering bills of materials that are complete, accurate, and on-time.
  • Process approved engineering change requests.
  • Coordinate design requirements, application reviews, and engineering releases with selected suppliers.
  • Develop test requirements and coordinate component and system testing, including analysis of results and participation in the testing, as required.
  • Identify and implement design improvement projects directed at reducing cost and improving product performance.
