Job Title: Environmental Health & Safety Operations Manager
Location: Ann Arbor, MI

Summary: Environmental Health & Safety Manager will provide the company with a source for central resource in safety. The role will provide general assistance to manufacturing plans and others involved in safety evaluation and analysis in support of departmental mission and objectives. As the EH&S Operations Manager, the candidate must be proficient in OSHA compliance, ISO conformance, as well as Fire Prevention evaluation.

Environmental Health & Safety Operations Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited four-year college or University
  • 5 years or more of hands on H&S experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strong planning and coordination skills
  • Understand technical aspects of safety and have the ability to apply that knowledge to the regional operations of a group of plants
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and municipal laws and regulations
  • Excellent presenting skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of employees

Environmental Health & Safety Operations Manager Requirements:

  • Candidate shall utilize systems, such as Layered Process Auditing, to meet targeted improvements while working across several locations. Additionally, creating and managing capex plans with innovation to accelerate EH&S performance to benchmark performance levels
  • Provides training in safety related issues for team members within the technical facility
  • Participates in the safety related activity within the corporation
  • Acts as liaison for manufacturing safety group and the plants
  • Manages projects related to safety improvement
  • Provides direction and guidance to location trainers. Develops and monitors contents of classroom training to ensure compliance on safety related topics. Schedules and conducts re-cert and re-training
  • Investigates incidents, accidents, work related injuries including accident investigation, accident reports, accident files, accident register. Typically determines fault or preventability based on the facts identified at the scene
  • Prepares and submits accident-related compliance forms, maintains files, and submits data to appropriate person or organization
  • Plans, schedules and conducts monthly safety meetings based on region safety and safety coordinators at the plants
  • Provides various reports and analyzes, including safety trends. Develops cost saving recommendations
  • Lead implementation of prevention-focused safety programs
  • Develop H&S strategy in support of Corporate H&S strategic goals
  • Identify and track gaps in local compliance policies and procedures
  • Develop H&S plans designed to reduce injuries, accidents and incidents
  • Formulates general safety policies and procedures to be followed by facilities personnel in compliance with all regulatory agencies
  • Interface with regulatory bodies
  • Write safety program documents and monitor compliance and updates
  • Develop materials and provide resources for safety awareness training
  • Assist in development of Ergonomic programs
  • Serve as a resource in safety expertise for plants safety coordinators
  • Oversee OSHA compliance, record keeping compliance, personal protective equipment selection, and conduct compliance audits
  • Conduct train the trainer programs; if necessary
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims management and return –to-work programs
