Human Resources Manager
Sterling Heights, MI

Summary:
Our client is a full-service real estate development firm specializing in industrial projects. They are among the largest commercial developers in southeast Michigan developing industrial, retail, office, apartments, single-family and multi-family residential products. They are looking to add a Human Resources Manager to their team. As part of this team the Human Resource Manager shall be dedicated to providing employees with services and programs that support and accomplish the company’s strategic goals and long-range plans.

Human Resources Manager must have 5+ years of relevant generalist experience

Human Resources Manager Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in Human Resource Management
  • 5+ years human resources generalist experience in a small to medium sized professional service business
  • Understanding of labor laws, employee relations, case law, and governmental compliance regulations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Conflict management skills
  • Basic computer skills (MS Office, HRIS system, payroll system, e-mail)
  • Basic accounting aptitude 
  • SPHR, PHR (preferred)

Human Resources Manager Description:

  • The position is responsible for recruiting and personnel development, as well as payroll and 401(k) administration
  • Other duties include supporting and administrating company policies, programs and practices and facilitating clear, accurate communication to stakeholders of the company
  • This includes: planning and organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating, communicating and directing activities that improve the job satisfaction and career opportunities
  • Recruiting
  • Recruit, interview, and screen candidates for job openings
  • Develop and conduct interview skills training for managers
  • Write and maintain job descriptions
  • Maintain applicant information for EEOC purposes
  • Prepare employment policies and procedures
  • Maintain active relationships with preferred business schools and MBA programs
  • Communications
  • Develop and inform employees of policies and procedures
  • Keep lines of communication flowing between staff and management 
  • Make presentations on a variety of issues of importance to employees and management 
  • Conduct training programs
  • Compensation 
  • Lead the development and implementation of performance review system
  • Implement salary structures and guidelines
  • Analyze pay practices and recommend changes to ensure parity
  • Provide compensation action for employees and direct preparation of job descriptions
  • Benefits
  • Administer payroll and time tracking
  • Plan and direct implementation and administration of benefit programs
  • Answer employee benefit questions
  • Ensure employee database is maintained and updated
  • Prepare and submit 5500s for all benefit plans
  • Analyze and evaluate services, coverage and insurance options
  • Management Team
  • As a business partner, provide strategic plan for Human Resources
  • Assist other management team members in making long and short term HR goals and budgets
