Title: Key Account Manager
Location: Novi, MI


Our client is a growing automotive tier one supplier who is looking to add an experienced and professional Key Account Manager to the team. As part of the team, the Key Account Manager will be responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with strategically important major accounts.

Key Account Manager should have at least five (5) years’ experience in Technical/Component sales to OEMs – Ford or GM is Ideal

Key Account Manager Requirements:

  • Minimum five years of strategic sales experience in automotive
  • At least 5 years’ experience in technical sales or project management
  • Ability to interpret automotive drawings
  • Demonstrated ability to perform cost and financial calculations
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate commercial issues
  • Demonstrated ability to lead an international cross functional team
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated self-reliance and assertiveness
  • Demonstrated problem solving capability
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to use work processing, spreadsheet, presentation and e-mail software
  • Knowledge of and experience using automotive Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) methodology
  • Automotive driveline experience a plus
  • Ability to read, write and speak German a plus
  • International business experience a plus
  • Maintain all documentation related to quotations, such as Cost Breakdowns

Key Account Manager Description:

  • Establishes productive, professional relationships with key personnel in assigned customer accounts
  • Coordinates the involvement of company personnel, including support, service, and management resources, in order to meet account performance objectives and customers’ expectations
  • Meets assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
  • Proactively leads a joint company-strategic account planning process that develops mutual performance objectives, financial targets, and critical milestones associated with the 5 year business plan
  • Coordinates high level program objectives to drive program management and launch success
  • Proactively assesses, clarifies, and validates customer needs on an ongoing basis
  • Leads solution development efforts that best address customer needs, while coordinating the involvement of all necessary company personnel
  • Develops and achieves strategic customer objectives approved by company management
  • Completes strategic customer account plans that meet company standards
  • Meets assigned expectations for profitability
  • Maintains high customer satisfaction ratings that meet company standards
  • All employees are responsible for having an awareness of IATF 16949
