 Lead HMI Engineer
Northville, MI

Summary:

Our client is a leader in the automotive industry who is looking to add a Lead HMI Engineer to their Advanced Development team. The HMI Engineer will assist feature teams in HMI development

The Lead HMI Engineer must have at least 5 years of infotainment HMI experience

Lead HMI Engineer Requirements:

  • BS / MS Electrical and Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • Min 5 years’ experience in embedded or systems engineering
  • Min 3 years customer working experience
  • Min 2 years working with requirement engineering
  • Functionalities within Instrument Cluster/In-Vehicle Infotainment domain
  • HMI/Application software development for infotainment platforms
  • In-vehicle communication (CAN/LIN) and Diagnostics (UDS)
  • Process supporting tools for defect management, calibration and programming
  • Experience with Jira, Gerrit, and Agile Software Development
  • Agile/Scrum methodology is a plus
  • Hands on experience on programming Java, C, C++, JavaScript, etc is a plus
  • Working knowledge in open source Operating Systems is a plus

Validation Engineer Description:

  • Promote and HMI engineering team in new HMI technologies, methodologies and tools.
  • Collect, and analyze user analytics from end user studies and in-vehicle testing
  • Provide S/W integration support to local engineers, customers, or off site teams
  • Utilize working understanding of software design
  • Assist customers, implementation teams, and suppliers in modifying/implementing HMI design
  • Plan and communicate feature development with feature team leads and software implementation teams
  • Document and track issues, maintain the list through the life of the program
  • Communicate information to assist hardware team in Japan
  • Plan and deliver to a software release schedule
  • Maintain files and distribution to customer and other stakeholders
  • Coordinate with Software team(s) to evaluate, implement and integrate HMI features
  • Requirements Management and Validation
  • Maintain and understand requirements documents.
  • Explain requirements to our design team
  • Creatively suggest additional features and requirements that a customer may want
  • Support sales team in determining future technology strategies.
  • Support teleconference meetings with our design team in Japan (typically outside of normal working hours)
  • Limited short-term travel to Japan for meetings with our design team.
  • Limited travel to customers’ sites for engineering meetings and presentations.
