Summary:

Our client is a private equity firm looking to add an experienced and competent Market Intelligence Associate to their Business Intelligence Elite Team. This Market Intelligence Associate will be responsible for assessing the strategic and financial viability of current portfolio companies and potential acquisition opportunities

The Market Intelligence Associate must have two years of experience in a role such as strategy or management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or other similar strategy or finance focused position

Market Intelligence Associate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related area
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a role such as strategy or management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or other similar strategy or finance focused position
  • Strategic thinker with an ability to put structure around difficult problems (e.g. market size estimation, market share potential)
  • Finance and quantitatively savvy
  • Good technology background required, including significant experience using Microsoft Excel. Apple experience a must
  • Experience using big data and data visualization applications such as Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI is highly preferred
  • Very detail oriented with strong leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent analytical, written communication and organizational skills
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills and positive energy
  • Strong decision making skills
  • Must be able to be aggressive when called for, and humble when necessary
  • Must have an unbelievable work ethic
  • Must be able to follow-up and communicate well with senior leaders
  • Proven creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to be mobile and travel regularly as needed
  • Willing to do whatever is necessary to handle what is needed
  • Ready to develop to next level

Market Intelligence Associate Description:

  • The position would be part of a business intelligence "elite team" which would focus on making very quick, well-reasoned decisions on key projects for the organization.
  • Mix of strategy type work (market size estimation, market share potential) and data science background (understands Alteryx, Tableau, and Power BI); what’s happening in the market today to help what the company will do tomorrow
  • Proactively advance organizational thinking around marketplace and competitive insights, working with external research companies to obtain insights
  • Assess the strategic and financial viability of current portfolio companies and potential acquisition opportunities by developing the following analyses:
    • Market size estimation
    • Market share potential
    • Competitive analysis
    • Benchmarking exercises
    • SWOT analyses
    • Industry and company growth forecasting
    • Pricing studies
    • DCF and acquisition modeling
    • Technological capability assessments
  • Regularly present market intelligence findings to senior Business Intelligence team leaders
  • Obtain exposure to a diverse set of industries as the company operates across the fuel supply, oil field services, logistics and transportation, technology, aerospace, real estate, and is exploring expanding to new industries
  • Independently manage projects while contributing to group problem-solving
  • Exercise a wide degree of creativity and latitude in developing and coordinating projects on behalf senior Business Intelligence team leaders
  • Evaluate performance compared to plan and to benchmarks. Assist in identifying actions to maintain margins within acceptable levels
  • Discreet handling of confidential information
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for various projects
  • Manage and coordinate meetings with portfolio company leaders and internal stakeholders
  • Attend seminars and conferences
  • Assist with tasks related marketing, registrations, development of the agenda, and resource materials for meetings
  • Attend to administrative Business Intelligence details as assigned
