Newport, MI


Our client is a diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. They are looking to add an experienced and professional Organizational Development Expert to their Newport team. The Organizational Development Expert will enhance nuclear organization performance by providing consultation as the Organizational Development subject matter expert in the areas of talent management and development, organization effectiveness, team effectiveness, conflict management and engagement.

The Organizational Development Expert must seven years of organizational development experience

Organizational Development Expert Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of professional-level organizational development experience
  • Extensive experience designing, developing and implementing organizational solutions
  • Expert-level knowledge and extensive experience functioning as a change agent for whole systems or major organization units, working across organizations vertically and horizontally, implementing programs by overcoming resistance and resulting in long-term change
  • Experience in developing metrics to measure performance and process improvements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications sufficient to apply them with minimal instruction or guidance; this level of proficiency typically attainable through several year(s) of substantive experience with the applications.
  • Proficient verbal, written and presentation skills; communicates clearly, with credibility and confidence
  • Consulting and influencing skills consistent with the ability to build relationships and influence
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations
  • Business and management acumen extending beyond the incumbent's specific job, enabling him or her to proffer valuable insights, recommendations or challenges to policies, procedures and practices extending beyond the immediate scope of the job (this level of insight or expertise is typically not attained without several years of experience, regardless of the level of educational attainment)
  • Balances multiple demands from superiors, and/or subordinates and peers in a positive and evenhanded fashion; displays a calm demeanor under pressure
  • Initiates new ideas and approaches; challenges prevailing practices and approaches with reasonably sound alternatives
  • Well-developed organization and planning skills (typically acquired through at least 7 years of experience)

Other Qualifications Preferred:

  • Post-graduate degree in Organization Development, Organization Behavior, Industrial/ Organizational Psychology or, MBA with concentration in Organization Development, Organization Behavior, Management Science or related field
  • Coaching and/or other organization development-related certifications
  • Experience working in a nuclear environment
  • Training and/or instructional design knowledge
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification

Organizational Development Expert Description:

  • Enhances nuclear organization performance by providing consultation as the Organizational Development subject matter expert in the areas of talent management and development, organization effectiveness, team effectiveness, conflict management and engagement.
  • Develops and implements a variety of programs, including cultural development and organizational change initiatives that address business unit goals and strategies.
  • Operates on a largely independent basis.
  • Provides internal organization development consulting services to senior management on topics such as leadership development, team effectiveness, succession planning, and conflict resolution. Builds and maintains strong client relationships
  • Partners with the broader Human Resources team to deepen HR processes and procedures into the Nuclear Generation organization including, but not limited to: talent planning, performance management, employee engagement
  • Acts as a knowledge leader and advises senior management on organizational effectiveness including leadership and team effectiveness
  • Leads confidential consultation and coaching for senior management to further develop management and leadership skills
  • Manages and conducts highly sensitive and complex interventions with a significant span of influence
  • Establishes organizational development intervention monitoring and evaluation processes
  • Collaborates with other internal Organizational Development consultants and training staff to design and conduct organization effectiveness needs assessments and implement development solutions for all levels of leadership
  • Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business
  • Contributes to the development of functional strategy; leads project teams to achieve milestones and objectives
  • Proactively addresses and responds to issues by bringing key stakeholders together to assess root causes and performance gaps, implementing and/or supporting implementation of appropriate interventions, including strategic planning, tactical and project planning, facilitation, instruction, program design, materials development and performance analysis
