OBD Engineer
Superior Township, MI


Our client is a global manufacturer of automobiles and is seeking an experienced, professional, and technically savvy OBD Engineer. Their current opening is a technical position that will be part of a tightly knit team developing on board diagnostic and engine management system controls for engine programs where creativity, engineering expertise, and problem solving abilities are critical.

OBD Engineer must have fundamental knowledge of engine calibration, on board diagnostics, and extensive experience in MATLAB and Simulink

OBD Engineer Requirements:

  • 5 years of experience required
  • Bachelor’s in electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Automotive industry experience with hands on experience in EMS and OBD software
  • Experience in automotive industry engineering and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of vehicle emissions legislative regulations and requirements
  • Knowledge of engine startability and driveability requirements
  • Knowledge of engine and fuel characteristics dependencies
  • Knowledge needed to meet engine management system project goals
  • Knowledge of engine control systems and on board diagnostics interactions
  • Knowledge of OBD regulations and requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical behavior

OBD Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Ability to post process data by compiling and extracting information of interest from data files
  • Understanding of internal combustion engine operations
  • Proficient in MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Project
  • Base understanding of engine monitoring software. Specifically ETAS INCA, MDA, Diagra
  • Extensive experience with Matlab Simulink
  • Basic project management skills
  • Proficient time management and organization skills
  • Proficient self-management skills
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills
