Sr. HR Specialist – Health and Safety, and Workers Comp
Dearborn, MI

Summary:
Our client is a third party logistics company responsible for warehousing, packaging, fulfillment and distribution. They are looking to add a Sr. HR Specialist to their team. As part of this team the Sr. HR Specialist shall be dedicated to identifying company wellness and safety needs and issues.

Sr. HR Specialist – Health and Safety and Workers Comp needs to have at least 5 years dealing with workers compensation and health and safety laws and regulations.

Sr. HR Specialist – Health and Safety and Workers Comp Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, health promotion, or public health (master’s preferred)
  • 5-7+ years of experience working with workers compensation and Health/Safety laws and regulations 
  • 5+ years of experience handling FMLA
  • Strong leadership, team management, interpersonal and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office programs including at minimum Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees both within and outside the organization 
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of program development and implementation, data collection and analysis and outcomes reporting
  • Ability to understand and speak Arabic huge plus

Sr. HR Specialist – Health and Safety and Workers Comp Description:

  • Identify company wellness and safety needs and issues; Promote a culture of wellness and safety through innovative programs and services with the ultimate goal of reducing health and safety risks and addressing identified needs
  • Develop strategies that lead to health and safety improvement initiatives and programming for employees; 
  • Communicate and promote health, wellness and safety by developing educational materials, conducting workshops and presentations, and organizing events; evaluate program effectiveness; and to perform related work as required
  • Responsible for OSHA record-keeping and understanding such regulations 
  • Manages and processes all leave of absences including FMLA, ADA, medical, military, parental, workers compensation and personal leaves
  • Ensures all requests are responded to in a timely manner and that all leaves are managed in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
  • Develops and maintains reports to measure/track leave of absences
  • Will be the owner of workers compensation from discovery of issues, to hearings, working with each of the sites, then working with insurance companies to settle claims
  • Will investigate worker’s compensation issues, Attend hearings and meetings, handle issues/claims with insurance companies
  • Work with and alongside the representative from Staff Temping agency to effectively achieve success
