Sr. Quality Engineer

Troy, MI

Summary:

Our client is a growing company who is looking to add an experienced and professional Senior Quality Engineer to the team. As part of the team, the Senior Quality Engineer will work to improve and/or maintain the Quality Management System and represent the product quality function and technical support function for production

Senior Quality engineer must have 4+ years of customer-facing engineering experience

Senior Quality Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in a quality engineering role with customer interaction
  • Knowledge of quality assurance tools and methods (APQP, FMEA, PPAP, Control Plans, MSA, SPC and 8D)
  • IATF Certification (preferred)
  • Experience with ISO TS16949
  • Experience working with metal components; exhaust systems or aluminum is preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and through email
  • Strong leadership abilities; capable of managing work independently

Senior Quality Engineer Description:

  • Supports and actively participates in the APQP Process for new product and new customer launch
  • Generates and submits PPAPs as required
  • Evaluates and support inspection processes via inspection instructions and visual aids
  • Reviews customer discrepancies, including:
    • Coordination and tracking of customer corrective action requests (8Ds)
    • Providing technical support for quality issues
    • Improving technical support for the production team
  • Facilitates and coordinates customer Returned Material Analysis (RMAs)
  • Support and coordinate discrepant material reporting, including trend analysis of defects occurring at the customer and internally
  • Support quality and production continuous improvement efforts
  • Support LPA (Layered Process Audit) guidelines
  • Facilitates Final Assembly Operator Training
  • Facilitates GP-12 Operator Training
  • Lead Role for Implementation of Corporate Task Lists (WPS, Quality….)
  • Works with Supplier Quality Engineer to support supplier quality activities
  •  Maintain customer scorecards
  • Generate, analyze, and interpret data in MiniTab
  • Perform and evaluate capability studies
  • Work alongside Production Managers, corporate, and Quality Manager
