Job Description

  • Provide business value by solving market problems that support first responder safety and operations for Law Enforcement and Fire agencies.
  • Day-to-day management of product engineering team
  • Focus on team and individual team member health and career development thru regular 1:1s and fostering open and positive communication.

Scope and Impact (Accountability)

The Software Engineering Manager is expected to lead the production of product release deliverables on time and with a high-level of application quality and performance for a web-based product that spans both on-premise, cloud, and mobile.  Output impacts revenue and organizational growth, which in turn supports our Sales and Services organizations. The Enterprise Records team works in a fast-paced environment to support growing business objectives with a high degree of accountability. The Software Engineering Manager directly contributes to this effort by owning the execution and delivery of releases and fostering a strong engineering practice. This role works within a larger Product team that includes QA and Product Management functions.

Education, Experience and Special Skills

  • Bachelor's degree Computer Science/Engineering or Management Information Science.  Equivalent work experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Managing or Leading a technology team required, preferably within software engineering
  • Prefer a minimum of 5 years of experience in a hands-on software engineering/architecture role
  • Prefer experience associated with building software product
  • Public Safety or Local Government domain experience a plus.
  • Knowledge of data modeling and relational databases concepts
  • Cloud platform and multi-tenant design experience preferred
  • Strong technical test automation (unit, integration, performance) perspective and experience 
  • Experience using Agile SCRUM development processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the full software development lifecycle and associated methodologies helpful.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills involving the ability to manage multiple work tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills involving communicating technical and non-technical information in writing and verbally; including an occasional presentation.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate in a team across functional groups.
  • Ability to be effective in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to travel occasionally if requested.
