Our client is a private equity firm in Birmingham, MI looking to add an experienced and high energy Sr. Event Planner to his Team. This Sr. Event Planner will be responsible for successfully planning domestic and international events for this world class organization.

The Sr. Event Planner must have five years of experience in corporate event planning

Sr. Event Planner Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field; ideally with a focus on Hospitality Management
  • Minimum of 5 years event experience, preferably in a corporate/international environment
  • Earned designation of Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) or Certified Meeting Manager (CMM) preferred
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% for onsite support and event planning trips both internal and domestic.
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends as necessary to accommodate heavy workloads that tend to occur before a major corporate event
  • Excellent customer service skills are required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Comfortable working collaboratively as a team and sharing responsibilities of a major event with other team members is
  • Strong program, project, and time management skills – highly organized, detail focused, results driven, accountable with the ability to handle stress and last-minute, urgent requests
  • Multi-lingual is a definite plus

Sr. Event Planner Description:

  • Research and plan accommodations, transportation, meeting space, menus, offsite venues, onsite activities and other logistics as necessary, using site visits and other evaluation criteria to determine best value
  • Compiles project plans which summarize costs, event times, attendance numbers, equipment needs, catering, decorations/floral and other related details
  • Coordinates event collateral such as agendas, directional signage and other print or digital needs
  • Provide onsite management and post-event evaluations
  • Manage deadlines with each meeting process and make decisions based on the needs and objectives (manage multiple events at once)
  • Ability to utilize various technology systems and software to support meeting planning end to end process
  • Communicate with staff and team members to ensure a successful meeting
  • Work with hotels to manage housing lists, audio visual orders, room set-ups and develop menus for events
  • Assist in developing and proofing content for event web site, event emails and other event collateral; including expo booths that represent the high quality of the brand/corporate image
  • Work with team to create and manage timelines for corporate events, including those that involve outside vendors, creative and/or marketing services, and various SGH business units
  • Work directly with various levels of SGH management, outside vendors, resort management and clients
  • Support all marketing, sales and business development initiatives when needed
  • Go above and beyond to ensure meetings or events meet clients’ expectations
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technology and share best practices
  • Work collaboratively to streamline and monitor a standardized work-flow process for event planning and management
  • Support efforts to develop and maintain relevant event databases and mailing lists
  • Provide onsite support at all major and international events when needed
  • Bring energy, creativity and new ideas to contribute to a successful experience at all events
  • Demonstrate event planning and event management standard methodologies
