Sr. Tax Associate / CPA
Troy, MI


Our client is a top 100 certified public accounting, audit, tax and business advisory firm with locations across the country. They are looking to add an experienced and professional Sr. Tax Associate to their team. This Sr. Tax Associate will lead preparation of various tax returns including individuals, C-Corp, S-Corp, partnerships, trust, estate, etc. for clients in a variety of industries such as manufacturing, construction, dealership, real estate, wholesale and retail.

The Sr. Tax Associate must have a CPA and three years of experience preparing tax returns from start to finish

Sr. Tax Associate Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required
  • Willingness to pursue (or have earned) Master’s Degree in Taxation
  • CPA License
  • Minimum 3 years of current and relevant experience in domestic tax at Regional or Big Four firm
  • Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to manage people with differing personalities to meet the needs of the firm and clients
  • Demonstrate patience when training and coaching less experienced associates and can adapt to different learning styles of others
  • CCH Axcess software experience a plus

Sr. Tax Associate Description:

  • Lead preparation of various tax returns including:  individuals, C-Corp, S-Corp, partnerships, trust, estate, etc. for clients in a variety of industries
  • Demonstrate advanced technical aptitude of taxation and can handle complex returns and projects with confidence 
  • Utilize analytical and decision-making skills to solve complex technical issues
  • Review the work of less experienced associates and provide guidance/mentorship to assist them in developing technical skills
  • Build strong client relationships and ensure client needs are being met
  • Maintain timely and accurate communication with team and clients to manage expectations, deadlines, and deliverables
  • Ability to train new employees on firm technology, processes and procedures
  • Present new ideas and improvements for ways of performing tasks in order to achieve firm and departmental goals
  • Seek opportunities to participate in practice development to build network of referral sources
