Technical Sales Engineer
Detroit, MI

Our client is a Global Automotive Fastener supplier and an innovative leader in the design, development and manufacturing of fastening solutions to many OEM’s and Tier One manufacturers looking to add an experienced and professional Technical Sales Engineer to their team. As a Technical Sales Engineer, they will be the liaison between customers and affiliate personnel to negotiate complex issues. 

The Technical Sales Engineer must have at least 2 years of experience in engineering roles within the automotive industry.

Technical Sale Engineer Requirements:
•    Post-Secondary education
•    Greater than 2 years of automotive experience
•    Ability to read 2D/3D drawings
•    Ability to use and understand CAD equipment and software; SolidWorks skills is an asset
•    Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs, and is capable with computers; Presentations 
•    Knowledge concerning material, process, tooling, product and cost for clips (metal, plastic or assemblies)
•    Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to work with internal and external organizations
•    Able to work well and collaborate within a team atmosphere
•    Trustworthy; Management will not be looking over a person’s shoulder and needs to be able to trust that the job is getting done and getting done well.
•    Self-motivated to seek out opportunities rather than sit back and be told what to do

Technical Sales Engineer Description:
•    Ability to manage projects/customers from supporting design development to production launch with internal and external organization
•    Participate in engineering, sales, and general design reviews as required – and actively participate in the design process
•    Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, related data and drawings for a myriad of reasons (i.e. clip selection, root causing a build issue, improving a design, etc.)
•    Provide technical support from fastener selection recommendations, to design set ups of fasteners, to root causing and troubleshooting fastener build issues
•    Whether this be for Tier One customers or OEMs using the company’s products
•    Stay organized to manage projects, follow up on tasks and with customers, and seeking new opportunities
•    Prepare and present presentations for customers or internal to the company.  Ranging from company introductions to explaining a new design
•    Travel to customers & production facilities when necessary
•    Travel internationally in and across borders without issue should the need arise
