Dayton, OH

Summary:

Our client is a worldwide industry leader in custom plastic and rubber extrusion products looking to add a Vice President of Sales to their team. This Vice President of Sales will execute a strategy to double sales in a five year period focusing on customers in Automotive JOEMs and Aftermarket with a Tier 1 emphasis.  Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to lead an experienced team to the next level in a company that is transitioning from an Entrepreneurial owner to Private Equity.

The Vice President of Sales must have five years of experience managing sales teams while leading and executing sales strategy

Vice President of Sales Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required and an MBA is a plus
  • Possess solid business acumen and a deep understanding of Automotive market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies
  • Experience as a sales executive in the automotive industry selling data and analytics
  • Minimum 10 years in a sales role, at least five years in a sales executive position with solid relationships with Executive Leaders within major Automotive OEMs and Aftermarket
  • Previous management of a direct sales team with ability to set clear direction for sales associates and hold them accountable for their performance
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver and execute profitable growth strategies; must have an influential style to shape and evolve strategies to deliver results based upon market conditions and company vision
  • Ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels to exceed budget and goals
  • Strong sense of urgency, with the ability to focus company resources to achieve business results and/or to escalate within top-MGM (if we need something, we don’t know today)
  • Organized and structured with a solid level of accomplishment in the inception and execution of ideas

Vice President of Sales Description:

  • The Vice President of Sales is responsible for the management and leadership of sales activities
  • Responsible for ensuring that sales goals are achieved/exceeded to advance company financial objectives
  • Visit customers whenever needed
  • Actively lead and drive sales; Lead by holding staff accountable
  • Show and demonstrate to the team at the company of their leadership
  • Should be able to discuss and convince external and internal (not a “yes-man”)

Planning:

  • Establish both market and target customer strategies for the customer segment
  • Provide effective people and sales process leadership for the sales team to achieve aggressive revenue targets optimized across existing client growth and new customer acquisition
  • Manage annual and monthly sales objectives in coordination with the agreed strategies
  • Execute an annual Sales Plan and provide quarterly updates, revisions and modifications to the plan
  • Coordinate the specific objectives of the Sales Plan with all of the necessary functional departments
  • Develop pricing strategies for customer segments and channel partners especially for aftermarket

Execution:

  • Set revenue targets and manage both productivity and efficiency within the sales force
  • Develop and maintain Executive level /C level and senior level client relationships in key accounts and network with high potential prospects and clients
  • Define and manage the monthly and annual sales objectives for the team’s sales personnel
  • Manage the overall sales process by developing and motivating the team
  • Perform management functions in the area of pipeline development and sales forecasting
  • Identifying and removing barriers to achieving goals; as well as thinking out of the box
  • Engage with strategic account executive management to create and develop client loyalty and increase revenue
