ADAS Product Development Engineer
Southfield, MI

Our client is a growing company who is looking to add an experienced and professional ADAS Product Development Engineer. They are a nationally known developer and distributor of OEM add-on accessory products for the vehicle aftermarket. The company is expanding into new applications of active safety, and as such, we are seeking a full-time ADAS Product Development Engineer.

ADAS Product Development Engineer must have 1-3 years of relevant experience

ADAS Product Development Engineer Requirements:

  • Automotive systems engineering experience with broad automotive mechanical, electrical and ideally software experience
  • Exposure to and knowledge of automotive vehicle electrical/electronic systems
  • ADAS/Safety systems
  • Infotainment systems
  • Powertrain and Body systems
  • Vehicle networks (CAN, J1850, Flexray, etc.)
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter with leadership skills
  • Experience with wiring vehicles and fabrication, willingness for hands-on fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of embedded controllers, application software and automotive elec. systems, to include vehicle networks and diagnostics (e.g. OBD port)
  • Electronics integration experience - ideal candidate has experience with or willingness to learn about integrating complex electronics into vehicle interiors
  • BSEE or BSME with electrical/electronic experience 
  • Co-op experience with the automotive industry ideal

ADAS Product Development Engineer Description:

  • The ADAS Product Development Engineer is the team member who has a command of new company products, understands the new functionality/features and can design, build/fabricate and release new product designs
  • The team member works directly for the Senior Engineer, CV Services and will work with, and be mentored by, the existing CV Product Team, a Vehicle Systems Engineer, Human Machine Interface Specialist, and Installation Specialist
  • The development engineer, with the team’s support, will be responsible to create and demonstrated new product designs: generate specifications, build vehicle system prototypes and test vehicles to ensure/demonstrate performance
  • The successful candidate will also work with business planner(s), marketing and product development, especially in support of wining new business with vehicle/product demonstrations
  • This is an ideal entry-level position that provides direct exposure to the newest safety technology, vehicle design and hands-on experience with leading-edge vehicle electronic/electrical systems
  • Evaluate new CV/ADAS vehicle/mobile electronics ideas for integration into vehicles (Dedicated Short Range Communications {802.11p}, Cellular, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi)
  • Design, prototype and launch new affordable OEM quality “aftermarket” products
  • Lead the “reverse engineering" process to seamlessly integrate new features, ADAS sensors, electronic systems into target vehicles – an understanding and/or experience with vehicle networks (CAN) is helpful
  • Prototype and test the electronic/electrical mechanical designs, e.g. system design/wiring and vehicle system integrations – build vehicle systems
  • Collaborate with the Brandmotion design team, installers, business and marketing team to create robust specifications and prove-out suppliers and solutions
