Controls Engineer

Buffalo, NY


Our client is a rapidly growing automation company that specializes in packaging that is looking to add a Controls Engineer to their team. The Controls Engineer will be responsible for all plant equipment operations and building custom automation machinery and controls from scratch by blending electro-mechanical and robotics skills.

Controls Engineer must have at least 5 years’ experience within a Controls Engineer role

Controls Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • Proficient with RSLogix 500, 5000, Studio to support PLCs, HMIs, and Servos
  • Proficient with AutoCAD for layout design
  • Experience with industrial controls and automation preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Familiarity with Rockwell Automation/Allen Bradley Products
  • Understanding of NEC, NFPA 79, OSHA requirements
  • Highly flexible individual relating to project plans and developing individual skill sets

Controls Engineer Description:

  • Maintain all plant equipment across all three plants in Buffalo area
  • Project based: build custom machinery based on needs of the program/project
  • Apply both electrical and mechanical skills
  • Make minor design changes to PLCs, HMIs, and Servos (RSLogix 500, 5000, Studio)
  • Program robots – ABB preferred
  • May directly interface with customers to understand needs and requirements
  • Make enhancements or modifications to improve quality of machine output
  • Keep manufacturing up and running smoothly – maintenance, controls, electrical programming, troubleshooting, etc.
