Tier One Desktop Support Specialist
Livonia, MI


Our client is a growing IT consulting and managed services provider located in Livonia, MI. They are looking to add a Tier One Desktop Support Specialist to the team. As part of the team, the ? Tier One Desktop Support Specialist will be responsible for providing first level customer and technical support of desktop and network environments. This support will include workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor specific hardware and software. The position requires daily customer interaction and documentation of efforts.

The Tier One Desktop Support Specialist must have at least one year of support experience

Desktop Support Specialist Requirements:

  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Proven experience as a system technician or other customer support role
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of office automation products, databases, and remote control preferred
  • Good understanding of computer systems, mobile devices, and other tech products
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve basic technical issues
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in English
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Customer-oriented and cool-tempered
  • Our small business clients are primarily professional service companies with locations throughout the Metro-Detroit Area. Typically, they do not have internal technical support.

Desktop Support Specialist Description:

  • IT Support relating to common technical issues involving Microsoft’s core business applications (MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Support of Backup Solutions and Processes
  • Basic technical support at the network level: WAN and LAN connectivity, firewalls, and general security
  • Basic applications support, including installing, configuring, and troubleshooting applications and third party line of business applications
  • Basic malware, spam, and antivirus support on desktops and remediation of issues when applicable
  • Basic remote access solution support: examples include, VPN and terminal services, OWA, and remote web workplace
  • Monitor the remote management system alerts and notifications, and respond accordingly through service tickets
  • Systems documentation maintenance and review
  • Communication with customers as required: keeping them informed of incident progress, notifying them of impending changes or outages, and proactively interacting with clients before, during, and after service requests
