The Dynamometer Test Technician must have engine and machine shop experience

Job Title Requirements:

  • Two-year college degree with emphasis in mechanical or electrical engineering
  • Minimum of three-years of experience in mechanical and/or electrical concepts
  • Must have automotive or engine related experience
  • Transmission related experience, (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3 years Dynamometer testing experience
  • Proficient with MS Office applications – can assist others
  • Understands and complies with Quality Standard ISO17025
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Ability to safely and properly operate engine dynamometers and associated test equipment, and train others
  • Effective and professional communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to team-build and work effectively with others
  • Ability to fabricate or modify test fixtures using machine shop equipment, (preferred)
  • Ability to weld, (preferred)
  • Willingness to work any shift, and/or flexible shift schedules
  • A valid driver’s license is required for this position

Job Title Description:

  • This position is responsible for the set-up and performance of power train testing assignments using standardized procedures, recording and reporting the results and ensuring conformance of tests to customer requirements.
  • Performs power train fueled and non-fueled performance and validation testing (transmission, engine, vehicle, emissions, combustion analysis, hybrid e-motor, spin tests, power train components, to name a few).
  • Operates machine shop equipment safely and properly, demonstrating a high level of proficiency and the ability to mentor others.
  • Designs, fabricates and/or modifies test fixtures and test support hardware that are both highly functional and professional in appearance.
  • Installs and operates power train test articles on dynamometer test stands per documented instructions and trains others on procedure.
  • Develops and follows standardized procedures in accordance with the Laboratory Quality System to perform and document testing that meets or exceeds Customer expectations.
  • Proficient in the use of analysis tools for UUT performance and health checks; train associates on use of same.
  • Identifies test operation abnormalities for both test facility and test article, is able to diagnose and resolve events, and develop corrective measures to prevent similar incidents.
  • Recommends or develops new procedures or equipment that improve job performance, increase productivity, and/or reduce costs.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality results by mentoring others less experienced and seeking assistance when needed.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with peers, management, and Customers.
  • Collects and documents accurate test data through proper test preparation and execution.
  •  Performs every project with sound planning, organizing, ordering of parts and carrying out follow up activities.
  • Maintains good housekeeping and demonstrates safe work practices at all times.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and demonstrates professional behavior at all times.
