Electrical Designer
Southfield, MI

Our client is one of the world’s leading automated plant and mechanical engineering firm looking at add an Electrical Designer to join their Clean Technology Systems division. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for all phases of Electrical Engineering and design for Environmental Control Systems Projects. The main function of the position is to detail and design electrical (hardware and software) for industrial control systems. They will split their time 50/50 between hardware and software.

Electrical Designer must have 5+ years of relevant experience

Electrical Designer Requirements:

  • Associate Degree in CAD and electrical design
  • Electrical engineering degree preferred
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • Experience with E-Plan software required
  • Experience with AutoCAD required
  • Experience with SAP preferred – could end up ordering parts down the line
  • Familiar with mechanical layout, detail drawings, and basic piping preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations
  • Strong skills in math
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good written communication skills
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Self-starter capable of executing assigned tasks and solving problems in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary

Electrical Designer Description:

  • Interpret mechanical drawings
  • Attend and contribute to design review meetings
  • Control and document the distribution and archiving of drawings and documents
  • Effectively communicate and interact with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers and customers
  • Produce drawings within project schedule
  • Interpret schematics to develop complete system designs
  • Utilize a computer aided design (CAD) system to create electrical panel and schematic drawings
  • Hardwire control diagrams
  • Electrical layout drawings
  • Interface with Electrical Project Engineers to create:
  • Drawings
  • Schematics
  • Bill of Materials
  • Electrical layout drawings
  • Final documentation for the Electrical Engineering department
