Electrical Engineer
Southfield, MI

Our client is one of the world’s leading automated plant and mechanical engineering firm looking at add an Electric Engineer to join their Application Technology Group. The Electric Engineer will be responsible for all electrical design of hardware and integration with Control Panels. They will work with robot technologies for the automatic application of paint as well as sealants and adhesives.

Electric Engineer must have 3-5+ years of relevant experience with Industrial Automation/Integration Engineering 

Electrical Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or 5 years of equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering
  • Five or more years of experience with electrostatic painting systems in an automotive environment preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
  • Proficient with AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of E-plan
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Experience with Quality systems, i.e. ISO 9000, QS 9000, ISO 14001
  • Knowledgeable of electrical products relating to electrostatic painting equipment and robotic systems
  • Capable of reading electrical and mechanical engineering drawings
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
  • Willing and able to work weekends and holidays when required
  • Travel approximately 10-20%

Electrical Engineer Description:

  • Electrical Design of Hardware – integration w/Control panels
  • Design fluid and pneumatic control circuits
  • Design conduit and cable tray systems
  • Design cat track and cable management systems
  • Design and release cable assemblies
  • Develop electrical installation drawings for bid and build
  • Design control circuits
  • Work in SAP system to define, order and track parts
  • Calculate and determine circuit loads
  • Create control panel layouts
  • Create bill of materials
  • Create work orders and/or purchase requests for manufacturing of assemblies and systems
  • Release engineering drawings and electrical designs
  • Completes engineering tasks within prescribed deadlines
  • Interacts with the modular build and installation department to provide technical solutions to problems
  • Travels to customer facility locally and internationally to perform technical site visit
  • Maintains high ethical standard of conduct for all engineering activities
  • Has understanding of electrostatic paint application principles
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
  • Commission installed designs
  • Troubleshoot electrical installation, both hardware and software
  • Maintain and update checkout documentation
  • Provide site support to resolve electrical issues
  • Travel approximately 20%
