Manufacturing Engineer
Auburn Hills, MI

Summary:

Our client is a leader in the safety electronics industry who is looking to add an experienced and independent Manufacturing Engineer. The Manufacturing Engineer will plan, design, and coordinate the integration of PCB and final assembly equipment, fixtures, and documentation into the manufacturing process.

The Manufacturing Engineer must have two years’ experience in an electronics manufacturing role.

Manufacturing Engineer Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electronics engineering or related field or equivalent work experience
  • 2 – 5 years of related experience in Process and/or Manufacturing Engineering
  • Strong background in Surface Mount technology (SMT), Through Hole applications, Conformal Coating, and Final Assembly
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and their application to a manufacturing process
  • Experience in mass producing electronics IPC-A-610F (class 2,3) preferred
  • Demonstrated experience creating process documentation (e.g. PFMEAs, Process Flows, Visual aids, and Work instructions)
  • Knowledge of quality theory and practices required, including PFMEA, Control Plans and Charts, and process documentation required
  • Strong analytical, interpretive, and problem-solving skills required

Manufacturing Engineer Description:

  • Support production realization activities by defining the production process including:
  • Establishing optimal line configurations
  • Programming of Surface Mount equipment
  • Defining equipment and process parameters
  • Specifying all required tooling such as stencils, wave/reflow pallets, and assembly fixtures
  • Creation of programs and setups for SMT equipment to deliver robust, efficient, delivery of Printed Circuit Board Assembly
  • Deliver and facilitate Kaizen events to engage production staff and deliver efficiency
  • Design and configure production processes for optimal throughput and efficiency
  • Utilization of Lean principles to deliver World Class manufacturing processes and reduce the 7 wastes
  • Design tooling and fixtures for product handling requirements and work with our test engineers to provide automated solutions for production tasks for high volume assemblies
  • Identify opportunities and implement error proofing in production
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities for safety, quality, delivery, and cost KPIs
  • Develop, review, and improve product assembly documentation
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future production requirements and potential
  • Coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal staff to resolve manufacturing related issues
  • Use DMAIC problem solving tools to identify root cause and deliver long term preventative actions
  • Collaborate with product design team on product architecture to ensure success in mass production
  • Participate in design review to conduct DFM and DFT recommendation with innovative and cost-effective solutions
