Operational Excellence Coach
Greater Memphis Area


Our client is an elevator manufacturing corporation with their quality manufacturing division based in the Greater Memphis area. They are looking to add an experienced and professional Operational Excellence Coordinator. This role will understand, deploy and teach Lean methodologies and principles on a basic level to determine which methodology applies to any particular problem current or from past occurrences.

Operational Excellence Coach must have experience in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma processes

Operational Excellence Coach Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required
  • Certification in Six Sigma and/or Shainin statistical problem-solving methodologies is a plus
  • Certification in Lean Manufacturing is a plus
  • Proven track record of successful, hands-on implementation of a broad range of Lean methodologies
  • Demonstrate a basic level of aptitude with the Improvement and Coaching Kata
  • Possess general training and coaching skills
  • Possess the capacity to facilitate successful teams (Project, Functional, Kaizen/RIE)
  • Possess the ability to be self-directed, self-motivated and willing to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess a basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software, specifically spreadsheet and presentation applications (Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Possess a general understanding with basic experience in various facets of the manufacturing enterprise
  • Possess the capacity to excel at working with cross functional team members at all levels
  • Possess a general understanding with experience in various facets of the manufacturing enterprise

Operational Excellence Coach Description:

  • Identify the correct OpEx methodology to improve manufacturing and business processes
  • Help identify and prioritize improvement opportunities using a range of methodologies (Visual Management, Mission Control, Hoshin Kanri, Value Stream Assessment & Design (VSA/VSD), Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE), Design for Manufacturing & Assembly (DFM/A)
  • Act as subject matter expert locally for the Improvement Kata (IK) and Coaching Kata (CK)
  • Coach team members at the operator to manager level in the Improvement and Coaching Kata
  • Assess the progress of Learners in the Improvement and Coaching Kata
  • Coach team members, functional teams and cross-functional teams in the methodology of Visual Management (VM), including how to set up VM tools, how to interpret them and how to act on them
  • Write new procedures and process instructions as necessary Maintain and improve existing procedures and processes
  • Prepare reports and training materials in addition to technical reports
  • Create and deliver education, training and coaching in a variety of methods: Classroom instruction, Hands-on exercises, Simulations, 1:1, etc.
  • Develop solutions for cross-functional problems
