Troy, MI

Summary:

Our client is a growing company who is looking to add an experienced and professional Project Engineer to the team. The Project Engineer will work on projects/subprojects within the framework of the action plan, and guiding and implementing the technical part of the project in cooperation with the Project Manager, so that complex, large-scale automotive and other project constructions can be realized successfully.

Project Engineer must have familiarity with Body in White (BIW) processes and equipment: welding, vision, gluing

Project Engineer Requirements:

  • Required software packages and tools (Office, 2D & 3D design software, customer-specific software)
  • Directing and following up with suppliers in the areas of engineering, status and quality
  • Evaluating quotations in terms of engineering, content and price
  • Masters the entire project process, from process through final acceptance by the customer, in every facet;
  • Standards and customer specifications; statutory guidelines and regulations (UL); safety issues and ergonomics
  • Global knowledge of the other professional fields in order to guarantee integral optimization
  • Approval, rejection and release of designs and purchase elements/technical release of order forms after assessment of all technical specifications
  • Proposing solutions to problems; providing technical advice to the customer; providing work assignments to the project designers /project engineers in every professional discipline
  • The design of automotive and other systems in project form in accordance with set requirements and specifications sales transfer to acceptance by/transfer to the customer
  • Responsibility for the technical process; including risk analyses, FMEA & availability calculations/cycle time;
  • Performing the work in accordance with set statutory and customer requirements
  • Drawing up , distributing and monitoring the schedules and reports
  • Drawing up, distributing and following up on internal/external reports
  • Monitoring the content of the project (what has been sold in accordance with which specifications)
  • Technical project management of a project (technical project management for all professional fields)
  • Coordinate with Project team members in the exchange of information, discussing work orders in terms of scope, price and delivery time
  • Communicating with Construction team members an internal inspection bodies regarding the work
  • Previous communication with the project manager in terms of discussing progress on the work, and reports
  • Coordinate with Engineering Team Leader regarding reports which are sent directly to customers and suppliers, and regarding progress on project work

Project Engineer Description:

Supervision

  • Coordinating, supervising and following up on work by the employees directed by him/her, and suppliers in the case of contracted out work
  • Studying and analyzing the order and consulting on the order with the client, Project Manager/Project Engineer, internal departments and suppliers
  • Acquisition of approval from approval bodies and clients
  • Resolving technical problems during the entire project
  • Providing leadership on a project basis to approximately 7 - 10 project team employees (such as Project Designers, Assistant Project Engineers or Project Controls Engineer) or externally hired engineers/firms
  • Providing training to the customer’s personnel

Planning

  • Together with the project manager, drawing up a schedule and the control plan and ensuring implementation of and compliance with them
  • Monitoring progress on and the status of project-critical deliverables and activities including reporting to the Project Manager and the management, including possible disruptions and corrective actions
  • Purchasing and calculations
  • Assessment of quotations, calculations, timing, progress and deliverables of suppliers on the basis of professional aspects, and recording the arrangements made

Administration

  • Supplying information for drawing up the technical documentation in accordance with statutory requirements and standards, and the guidelines of the customer
  • Recording or ensuring the recording of the technical execution up to and including final acceptance by the customer in terms of process content and deliverables, including associated version management
  • Taking care of all technical project information and the Technical Construction Dossier (TCD) (in cooperation with Project Designer)
  • Ascertaining, recording and technical processing of contract variations
  • Ensuring that correct and complete records are kept with regard to the project in accordance with the agreed internal guidelines
