Sr. Designer - Transmissions

Farmington Hills, MI

Summary:

Our client is a growing company who is looking to add an experienced and professional Sr. Designer to the team. The Sr. Designer would be responsible for the design and analysis of automotive transmission systems and components, such as complex housings, gears, shafts, valve bodies, actuator systems, clutch systems, etc.

Sr. Designer must have 5+ years’ experience in transmission design with a tier one supplier

Sr. Designer Requirements:

  • 5 years of transmission/gearbox design and or analysis with technical responsibility of product
  • High standard of competency in transmission assembly and or component design
  • Associates degree in design.

Sr. Designer Description:

  • Technical responsibility for design projects of a broad variety in both content and value – responsibility dependent on level of experience
  • Design creation, often from clean sheet with parametric CAD tools, including GD&T and tolerance stack creation
  • Mentoring of engineers and designers to teach design skills
  • Technical and commercial management of projects
  • Maintenance of customer relationships
  • Component or system design analysis (hand calculation and FEA design analysis software, this will be a development opportunity for the successful candidate)
  • Presentation and communication of technical design elements to client companies
