Sr. Product Design Engineer

Our client is a successful growing company who is looking to add an experienced and professional Sr. Product Design Engineer. Sr. Product Design Engineer must have at least five years’ experience in engineering design/development of connectors

Sr. Product Design Engineer Requirements:

  • BSME and/or BSEE or equivalent experience required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in engineering design/development of connectors including stampings, moldings and assemblies; could work with switches, wire harnesses, modules (radios), or electromechanical packaging
  • Experience using 2D and 3D CAD software
  • Experience using FEA software
  • GD&T experience preferred
  • High voltage/high current experience preferred
  • Ability to multitask with high attention to detail
  • Familiar with contact materials and engineering molding resins

Sr. Product Design Engineer Description:

  • Carry out duties of the Engineering department, including, but not limited to, design, R&D, prototyping, engineering documentation, and validation. Responsible for mentoring other engineers and fostering the values dictated by the Engineering Group Leader.
  • Lead and supervise new product development of high voltage/high current connector systems
  • Reflect customer product parameters into product designs to meet customer needs and expectations
  • Interface with tooling, production, quality, suppliers, etc. to reflect good production practices into product designs
  • Utilize various engineering software and tools such as CAD, FEA, force tester, crimper, etc. to develop, evaluate, and validate product design concepts and existing product
  • Pursue design patents where applicable
  • Perform physical validation testing, root cause analysis, design analysis, etc.
  • Create/edit/control engineering records, drawings, reports, and documentation as required
  • Conduct design reviews as required with the customers, sales, manufacturing, production, quality, and suppliers
  • Perform competitive product analysis and evaluation as well as testing as required
  • Perform dimensional fit up analysis, geometric tolerancing and statistical analysis
  • Conduct and control engineering records, reports and documentations as required
  • Assist the Engineering Group Leader by organizing department personnel, resources and engineering activities
  • Conduct them self in a professional and friendly manner when interacting with affiliates, customers, and suppliers
  • Prepare Engineering and Financial documents
  • Approve Sample Requests & Testing
  • Create, read, and understand prints
  • Stack Study and use of FEA
  • Communicate with customers, internal personnel & suppliers
